Blocked Internet Connections - July 09, 2008

A new Microsoft Windows Update (KB951748) was released last night and for those who installed in and are running Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite or other third party firewalls may have noticed that you could not connect to any of your favorite read-while-drinking-coffee websites.

The new Windows update fixes a critical flaw allowing people to inject fake results into your DNS. But at the expense of some people's ability to use the internet at all.

The update is important, but here are a few solutions to the problem: 1. Uninstall the latest update until Zone Alarm and others create a patch to work with it. 2. Changing the 'Internet Zone' slider from High to Medium. 3. Clearing the Zone Alarm database and starting over with permissions I chose the first option for my computers, personally.
